TTAG presents ‘Reinvent Goa’ to improve coastal tourism

Travel and Tourism Association of Goa presents documents to Tourism Minister Ajgaonkar addressing the issues faced by the tourism industry

PANJIM: Against the backdrop of a decline in tourism, the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) presented a document to Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar addressing the issues faced by the tourism industry and the improvements required for the same.

The document titled ‘Reinvent Goa’ has been prepared by taking all the concerned from government officials, stakeholders and prominent businessmen. 

“The white paper is a road map painstakingly done to find a solution in the tourism-related problems and to ensure that the industry flourishes once again,” said TTAG President Savio Messias, who led the delegation on Wednesday.  

Messias said that the minister has promised them to look into the white paper. “He has instructed Tourism Director Sanjiv Gadkar to fix regular meetings with the TTAG and to ensure that suggestions which are reasonable to be implemented at the earliest,” Messias told Herald.

The TTAG also submitted a draft in the amendment of Tourist Trade Act to enable hotels to renew their registration for a period of five years with a request to introduce it in the upcoming monsoon assembly session.

Messias thanked the minister and assured him of TTAG’s support to work together for the growth of tourism in the State. 

“It was a very fruitful meeting with the Tourism Minister. He has appreciated our efforts and has promised action,” the TTAG President added. 

TTAG had also recently called on the Chief Minister, who had assured all support to the industry
